What are the fanboys of Sony and Microsoft saying about the FF13 Situation?

Tyranitar24 | July 15, 2008 | Video | Playstation 3 XBOX 360 E3 2008
I'm sure you all know about it by now, Microsoft announced at their E3 Press Conference that Final Fantasy 13 will be coming out for the 360. GamesRadar decided to lurk around the PS3 and Xbox 360 forums and they found some funny stuff! Sony fans are pissed off and 360 fans couldn't be more happy. Check the quote to see an example of how PS3 fanboys are really reacting, as well as 360 fanboys.

In addition, here's a video a guy made about the FF 13 situation, it's very.. uhhh... weird:

Page 2 is here.
So, Final Fantasy XIII is multiformat... A bombshell no doubt, but one that's surely good for the gaming community at large. More release platforms means more players means more happy people, right? Well no. We have a lot of unhappy people at the moment.

Sony fanboys are suicidal/homicidal, Xbox fanboys are gloating with not a second's care for dignity or grace, and BLOCK CAPTIALS and bad grammars iz breaking out all over the place. We trawled PS3Forums and Xbox.com and dredged up some of the messiest casualties of this particular war. All entries are published as originally written, and unlike in a real war, feel free to laugh at their pain.

Here is a PS3 fan:
Arimax: "This is truly Bullsh**. Sony has got to do something that sucks bad. MS doesn't deserve that game at all."

Here is a 360 fan:
Chosen4351:
"*** YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!~!!~~!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE FINAL FANTASY, YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'm not a fanboy of any system but that guys voice in the video makes me want to hurt him. I feel bad, but it's true. There's something about super nerds like him that make me want to punch things. Mostly people.

What's wrong with PS3 fans being enraged? They lost their biggest exclusive, along with many other games that were previously exclusive (DMC4, RE5, Ace Combat, etc)

Again, the PS3s biggest title = MGS4, not FFXIII. They lose that then yes, people have a right to commit suicide, but this? This is just ludicrous to be this pissed off.

I'm just lolling how people particularly PS3 fanboys are going all emo over this. That's really the only spectacularly amusing thing that comes out of this that it gets to them. And for what reason? I would understand the rage if it was completely cancelled for the PS3. It's still coming out for the PS3.

I could really care less if this happened or not since I'll have a PS3 by then regardless.

PS3 Fanboys are really pissed about this. To them, it's like Sony and all their employess are the biggest bitches in world, while the people with 360's lolling at FFXIII coming to their console. Since Sony Fanboys can't do anything about it, they can just thumbs down everyone's comments. How sad. :/

Yeah but it's still coming out for the PS3. There is no loss at all for the PS3 players I see here whatsoever. Maybe a loss for people who work for Sony Computer Entertainment or have a large stake in SCE, but I don't think anyone here works for Sony. That's what's so pathetic here, it's hilarious.

Yeah, but even though it's still coming out for the PS3, it's not an exclusive anymore, which means that's one less thing the PS3 has that the 360 doesn't.

I can see why PS3 fanboys are pissed. Hell, I own both consoles and I like them both, and I'm even a bit angry over this.

I orignally got a PS3 first for Final Fantasy, MGS4, RE5, and DMC4. Now four of those games are on/going to be on the 360. I'm glad I have a 360, too or else I'd have shot myself a long time ago

People are REALLY going to go crazy if/when KH3 goes to the 360.

I mean, how would 360 fanboys feel if Gears of War and Halo went over to the PS3.(those are the only big 360 exclusives I can think of, so if there are more, just add those to the list)

They would start freaking out, too.

What the *bleep*'s with the thumbs down? Because I speak the truth? Because I'm actually being reasonable?

Secondly, whether it needs to be a competition or not, it is. It's called the "Console War", have you heard of it? If not, where the *bleep* have you been?

OH DBZ how many exclusives does the PS3 have? How many do 360 have? And how many games are helping the PS3 sell and catch up to the competition? Oh wait thats right, barely enough. So yeah thats why were pissed. Im no fanboy, but now im scared to think what other exclusives will go multiplatform. MGS4 perhaps.

Don't worry FB, MGS4 will not go multiplatform. Atleast not in this generation of consoles.

          The 360 couldn't handle it.

          Well, I suppose.

But the 360 couldn't handle MGS4 because it's not powerful enough.

It'd have to be atleast 6 disks, and even then it would probably be hard on the 360.

If most of the data were compressed, MGS4 would totally work on the 360, but they aren't going to compress it. Kojima's complained about the quality as it is, he's not going to allow a crappier version to be made.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY DOES ANYBODY *bleep*ING CARE? I hate you all. We should all be happy these games are going multi platform, it makes it so the consoles have to improve other things to be better than each other, which will improve all of our experiences.

Besides, if you love FF so much then why not let other people play it? As a 360 owner I would be happy to see Gears go to PS3 because it's a fun game. But if that ever happened all you would hear is PS3 fanboys trying to rub it in 360 owners faces, just like FFXIII is being rubbed in theirs. Either side you are on is pathetic. Fanboys are the worst type of scum. Please die.

Why do you give a *bleep* about exclusitivity? You don't work for Sony or Microsoft. It's no gain or loss on your part. You are the consumer. You have your choice of every game that's out there right now!

Yeah MGS4 probably should go multi-platform. Really? That would not only give the game access to more gamers but also do good for the sake of humanity. People who care probably will hang themselves over it and they'll shut up about such an issue for good. There's an unconventional way of such a notion playing out for the better.

The only reason I'd hate MGS4 to go multi is because of tradition. It wouldn't kill me per se, but I would be a little disapointed. Guess thats why so many are pissed about FFXIII - tradition, not loyalty. Everyone's so used to seeing Sony stickered at the bottom of the box. Now they're gonna have to get used to seeing "XBOX 360" at the top.

Its not bothering me at all though. I hung up my FF days after I basically sold my soul to FFXII when it came out (250 hours in under a 45 days? yikes). I'm just entertained watching everyone hoot and holler about it.

Contrary to belief, not everybody is a fanboy just because they support 1 system. I own both a PS3 and a 360, and yes, it upsets me to see FFXIII go to the XBOX. Hear me out. Because I prefer PlayStation, I'm pulling for them to do well. No, I do not own stock in Sony, and no I am not seeing any money they get in profits. When one of the star players on your favorite team signs with another team, solely for more money, do you cheer for him and act happy about it? No, you're annoyed and you are pissed to see him go. PS3 has been catching beatings since it released, and while I still see a bright future for it, it would be nice to see them able to hold onto at least a few of their big name exclusives of the past. It's less than a handful now. Someone said something about being happy because it forces them to step their game up and provide something even better for us. Well, normally I would agree, but given the 'situation' PS3 is in, I don't think they have too many options to rely on, though I will say their first and second party support is really doing a good job. It just would be nice to see them get a little more third party support, exclusively. After Devil May Cry, GTA, Resident Evil, and now this, the best thing I personally take from it all is that we can hope to see some new blood in the industry, some new IPs that gaming has needed.

Aside from that, Square basically just lied forever. They said PS3 exclusive over and over and over, and even went so far to say that the White Engine was incompatible with the XBOX 360, only to pull this. Months ago, they spoke about spreading their software around, as to broaden their user base and not leave anyone out. Well, 360 already had three RPGs from Square planned before this surprise announcement, but PS3 had one, a big one, before it went multiplat. That doesn't add up to me. I'm reading that at least for the time being, FFXIII Vs is still "absolutely" PS3 exclusive, but who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if Kingdom Hearts 3 is Wii exclusive.

Well having so much concern over what's exclusive is just absolutely childish. I mean really it's not like XBOX hadn't had any of their "exclusives" taken. And even so nobody complained.

We could say the same for the Elder Scrolls Series, Saints Row, Bioshock/System Shock, Unreal series, and Splinter Cell. Oh my god XBOX people should go hang themselves, question their developer's loyalty, and start throwing petitions around and have a flamewar outbreak because those went from XBOX/PC exclusives to multiplatform.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. People who look at the gaming world through that lens. That philosophy is like a disease and it exists mostly with Sony. That's what's even more annoying. So long as it exists, let the tears flow. That's still a bad analogy btw seeing as Final Fantasy 13 is still going to be available on the PS3.

And I am still awaiting someone to link me to one of those official Square Enix made trailers people are talking about or any article quoting Square Enix as to saying it is EXCLUSIVE to the PS3. All the trailers I see, all it say is the game will be available on the PlayStation 3. That's not a lie at all.

None of the games you listed are in the same discussion with Final Fantasy. That's why there wasn't an uproar like this when those games went multiplatform. I don't think enough people acknowledge the pull that this game has. I think you're a little overboard saying that view is a disease. The last time the industry didn't thrive on 3rd party exclusive was way back with Genesis vs SNES. This is just how it is. I think when it comes to competition, it's natural for people to support the product they buy and that product alone. We're talking about money here. If you're putting your money into something, you're going to want it to be a good purchase. A lot of people are talking about PS3 being wasted money with the loss of these games that they could get on a cheaper console. It doesn't matter that you can also play it on PS3, because in their eyes, buying the PS3 was unnecessary now. Now, I'm not one of these people, but I understand the argument. Exclusives sell consoles, maybe not to every single person, but we all know how it works. PS3 lost BIG exclusives, not just everyday games.

So, if we are going back to the old Sega vs Nintendo days, where first party software ruled, then I don't really see that as a bad thing, it's just that the stakes (and the money) is much higher this time.

And I don't know about trailers saying EXCLUSIVE, but Square said in multiple interviews that the game is definitely PS3 exclusive and that the engine was incompatible on the 360.

I really think some of you are missing the big picture in this. Losing third party exclusives is not a bad thing at all. In fact, I would go on to say that it's beneficial to the consumers.

Having exclusives is, to me, the worst type of competitive strategy. Think about it, this late in the game Square Enix couldn't have made massive changes to their game for it to work on the 360. So in essence, neither console has any advantage in their hardware and operating systems. I realize I've just completely upset a million Sony fanboys. I know just like the countless others that have ever come into contact with one knows the Playstation 3 is more beefier, but game developers haven't got to the point they are actually utilizing it yet. The hardware is only as good as the software which makes both consoles basically the same. Which means you're buying one (or both) for the same capabilities. That's like buying a cd player that doesn't play certain cds just because of licensing knowing good and well it has the capacity to do it.

Having a plethora of multi-platform games forces console makers to do two things to help with competition 1) they would have to compete monetarily (lower prices) or 2) they would actually differeniate their products from one another (making the consoles different from one another).

In a euphoric world, there would be absolutely no difference between consoles and they could play any game making the purchase decision based solely on buyer preference like the ergonomics of the controller.

In a euphoric world there would be only one console that would allow people to use any controller shape they wanted and was a reasonable price.

    @ Deadman Rules.

If both consoles had the same exclusives, neither company (Microsoft or Sony) would be too bothered about the competition.

This "war" for exclusives and such is a good thing on the customer, mainly because if one side begins to lose, the company behind that side would have to try as hard as they can for their product to get back in place in the "war".

So, Sony's loss of a major exclusive = Sony trying their asses off to make things even, which = more features, games and such = more satisfied customers.

So yeah, Sony fans may be tearing their hair out because 360 gets the game as well, but I bet the bosses @ Sony are tearing their hair out trying to level the playing field, and chances are, that's gonna benefit the PS3 community.

How can they have the same exclusives? That's an oxymoron. They actually do have the majority of the same games and they are very much bothered with the competition. Did I miss something you're saying?
