PlayTV walkthrough video

Stuff.tv has a walkthrough/reviewish video of Sony's PlayTV service up on the ol' utubes, and you can see it below.

The service is set for Europe and Australia only as of now, with other regions unlikely to see it due to differences in digital standards.

PlayTV is a twin-channel DVB-T tuner peripheral with digital video recorder (DVR) software which allows users to watch and record television programmes to the hard drive of a PlayStation 3 console for later viewing.
Hands on video review of Sony PlayTV for the PS3. Turn your PS3 console into a Freeview PVR. From Stuff.tv - the gadget guide.

Why would it record in HD, freeview doesn't broadcast in HD currently. As soon as it does i am sure the PS3 will be patched in Europe to allow for HD recording.

There isn't really any difference is digital standards in the U.S, they could easily make one ready to use there. Digital broadcast are being shut down in 09, and its only going to be satellite and Cable services iirc. But meh, I was exciting when I first heard this news a year ago, now Im not. It doesn't sound as great as I thought it would turn out.

Yeah, Final Blade got confused there. We're losing ANALOG signals (over wireless).

The problem here, is that there are a lot of different services as far as TV entertainment goes. We don't have anything like that Freeview thing here (At least not in Canada) that I know of....
