On September 20, 2008, the Playstation 3 was launched in Malaysia. Everything was going well until a familiar tune started playing during the introduction of Mr. Naoi Sudo, the Managing Director of Sony Malaysia. This familar tune was actually the Legend of Zelda theme. Weird, huh?

Perhaps you could get a real story to talk about?

Perhaps you shouldn't comment on a story that is "not real"?

A hint to Zelda on the PS3?

    ....I wish....

Nope, if you listen to it very closely it doesn't have the same beat as the Zelda theme. It is very similar and borrows quiet a bit from the Zelda theme. But it is just different enough that they could get away with it.

Doesn't have the same beat? lol. Are you watching the same video as I am?

Listen to this song, then watch the video again.

It isn't the same. There are trills and extra notes. And it doesn't have the same heavy down beat. As I said it borrows heavily from the Zelda theme. But that is hardly a new thing in music.

Change the phrase "borrows heavily" to "remix," then you'll have the right idea.

Fair point. Still a remix isn't quite the same thing.

They should have played the Dark World theme. That one's like, 10 times better.

How gay. They should just use a theme from one of their own goddamn video games.

Actually, people have been using youtube as a scource a lot of the times for a while now.

You know, it is possible that the creator of this video just overlayed the Zelda song onto the video using some movie-making software.

No, Its too well done, and therefore it would be pointless to take the time to do it.

It doesn't mean no one would do it. Either way I feel the same as therealNgamer.

Then again I have to agree with Koloth as well, there's a slight difference in the song.

Actually, that would be quite easy to fake. One of my friends is into making movies and I film with him from time to time. He uses a program called Sony Vegas for his editing and its really easy to do this kind of stuff. All you would have to do is hook your camera up to the TV and get a direct feed of the song. Then just splice the the part of the song you want and add it to the music track of the video. You could then adjust the volume accordingly and bam: Zelda music during the Malaysian PS3 launch.

If you really wanted, I could probably have a video of the Mario theme being played during Microsoft's E3 by tomorrow for you.

Yes, I do interactive media at college too, It isn't as easy as your making out.

If you did spice it in you would be able to notice the difference in sound and background noise.

You can still add masks to audio clips to change the sound like that.

I just watched it again and noticed that from about 0:20-0:25 the volume of the chatter of the crowd changes rather abruptly, which I think is another sure sign of somebody making this whole thing up.

I saw this the other day without realizing what was to be expected to happen. I recognized the Zelda song at once and I was just like "lulwut?". I want to know who got fired over this one.
