Sonic & The Black Knight: first trailer

chautemoc | October 10, 2008 | Video | Wii
The very first trailer for Sonic & The Black Knight is here for viewing, featuring..Sonic..and a black knight.

The game is the next entry in the Storybook series, serving as a sequel of sorts to Sonic and the Secret Rings. It takes place in an Arthurian universe, and is Wii exclusive. Look it for next Spring if you're in Europe, or summer if you're in North America.

'Spring if you're in Europe, or summer if you're in North America.'

Wait doesn't Spring come before Summer?

There seemed to be some points where it suggested a fair bit of freeness for running from side to side. Also I think I may have been right in my case that the sword is more of a minor detail for gameplay rather than a major element of it. Based on that I want to reinforce my other theory that it's main element will be like the custom ring.

Seasons aren't the same in different time zones or countries iirc.

Does anyone else think that all Sonic games are basically the same? I don't mean to offend anyone, I like the sonic games, but this'll have to have variety in it if Sega want high sales rates...

Yeah they're pretty similar. You could say the same about the Mega Man games, too, I suppose..it's hard to break out of that foundation I guess, or even stay within it and have your game not suck.

This isn't meant to sound offensive, but it might since I'm a little annoyed at the moment (not because of this, something else).

It's funny that when Sega tries to do something new with the Sonic series, everybody bitches like all hell and tells them to go back to their roots. When they actually try and go back to their roots, everybody bitches about a lack of variety.

All I have to say to everyone is make up your bloody mind...do you want something new or to the roots? Sega did admit that their last few games did bite due to some glitches here and there and that is true, it did have it's problems but nobody has yet really said if they liked any ideas for their recent games or not. Every review is just bitching about the gameplay or graphics or load times and such, never looking to see if the story was any good or if Shadow having guns was a smart idea or anything like that. How are Sega meant to know what people really want when there isn't a lot of agreement between people as to what Sega should try.

All sonic games are the same these days, the last good game was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (which was awesome). They should go back.

The last good Sonic game was Sonic Chronicles The Dark Brotherhood which I'd argue is as good as the first Sonic Adventure at least.

For a Wii only game, the graphics look pretty well done
May have to pick this up long as it isn't as much of a dissapointment as brawl was =/
One thing though, the black knight looks ridiculous, wtf is with those pauldrons? =/

Those open fields certainly do seem to promise some level of freedom, though Sonic with a sword to me still seems ridiculous.

The sword looks too big for Sonic if I may say so myself. I just plain don't like the sword. I think the sword even has a name...Excalibur if I'm correct.
