Gametrailers have recently released a late Tokyo Game Show 2008 video showing Resident Evil 5's staff and voice-actors hyping up the game. Will RE5 really live up to such expectations? We'll have to wait and see...

Better live up to the hype.

Not saying it won't, but they are making my expectations preety high for this game. Even higher than before. They better live up to it.

Not saying that the game won't be good, BUT looking at the gameplay videos and the way the game played on Xplay, I highly doubt this is going to be the "best game ever". Maybe the best RE game, but best game? Get the **** out of here!

It was just one of the actors who said it, not Capcom.

Evolutionary rather than Revolutionary; I'm certain RE5 will be good but certainly not best game ever by any means. Understandably, the Staff consider their work godsend to the consumer.

I think it will possibly set a new bar for the series, more than anything. However, it seems to be trying to take a new spin on it, and as we saw with Prince of Persia, doing so doesn't always result in glory. I really doubt RE5 will be the best game ever.

The whole Persistent Co-op feature is not that big, but it is a lot more interesting and it DOES make sense...what action game SHOULDN'T have multiplayer? I'm sure RE4 would've had +10,000 replay pts if the Mercenaries mini games allowed 2 players.

I'm looking forward to the game now just to check out the digitized Nina Fehren. Holy cow!

I would take the video more seriously if she wasn't so stunning. Since I've never bought into the RE series, it would take a friend showing me it at his place to get me to buy into it.

Im seriously not as excited as others are about this game. To me, it looks like resident evil 4 set in Africa with new characters, co-op and shiny new graphics. While this is fine for many people, in the videos Ive seen, even the enemies have the same animations as resi 4 (the axe throwing etc). I expect it to be a mild disappointment tbh, but we'll have to wait and see.

"it looks like resident evil 4 set in Africa with new characters, co-op and shiny new graphics"
Coming off of one of the best and most highly-regarded games of the last generation (and part of this, if you count the Wii port), that doesn't really sound as bad as you're hoping it does. I think that's what a lot of people are actually expecting, and because part 4 was so damn good and fluid, building off the success of that by adding online co-op and better, smoother graphics - even with very similar gameplay and animations - would not be such a bad thing.
