Leaked Footage of Star Wars Battlefront III

A couple weeks ago, a former Free Radical employee posted up images of what appeared to be in-game models from Star Wars Battlefront III. Much more recently, a video has appeared on Youtube, featuring a camcorder recording of what is clearly a gameplay trailer for Battlefront III.

The game was in development by Free Radical, but the fate of Battlefront 3 is now in limbo since the studio has since closed. It is rumored that Rebellion Software, makers of SWBF: Renegae Squadron, are taking over.



Today, purported alpha footage of Star Wars Battlefront III was posted to video-sharing site YouTube. GameSpot was subsequently able to confirm with a Free Radical employee that the footage is of an internal video shown in November for the in-development game. The footage, which runs just less than six minutes, depicts several scenes from the unannounced game including lightsaber duels, firefights, aerial combat, and story-related cutscenes.

    I'm going to watch it again a few times. I hope that there's a new developer taking the reins; I'm perfectly willing to trade in my SWBF2 for a discount on this one.

    Looks like they've done a realy good graphics upgrade, but it's hard to tell with the poor quality of the video.

    It's nice to see that they kept the space battles. Those were always fun. I hope we can use starships in the ground battles again, though.

    I want this game so bad!
    If Free Radical could have finished this they would have made a boatload of money to keep the studio going. Too Bad.
    I hope whoever finishes the game, that they do it in a timely manner.

    What are they gonna do different from other Battlefront games? Better graphics and then what? I mean, haven't all the original battles been made by the previous games? Unless they think of a completely new storyline. Which will definitly suck.

      They could really upgrade the online and make for huge battles of online users. They can add more heroes and villians to play as. Different game modes. A graphics update will be nice. New physics that can kind of go along with TFU. They could have earlier battles in it. I don't think the Battlefront games have done every Star Wars battle. Battlefront 2 just followed Order 66.

    This is too 'done' not to be carried over to the next studio.
    Chances are Rebellion will inherit this data, and put the finishing touches on it, and possibly get all the credit for it. :\

    I don't see why Free Radical's devs aren't hired into Rebellion. Srsly. If the dev can relocate, that shouldn't be a bad idea i'd think.


    Also noticed the third rendition of the Hoth map. It's popular alright.

    Really doesn't look to grand. Just a rehashed version of BFII. I loved the first one, thought the second one was okay. Just from what I can tell from this video, this one is shaping up to be pretty lack luster.

    Really interesting. Wish I hadn't turned the sound up to hear the music though, that guy wouldn't stop coughing. Should've gagged his mouth during recording.

    One thing I noticed is the fact that the levels are much larger, there seems to be many new locales, aircraft get MUCH more breathing room, and it seems you can transfer seamlessly between planetary aerial combat and space combat.
