DC Universe Online is an MMO being developed by DC and Sony Online Entertainment set for release later this year. SOE is trying to focus on making the game a lot more interactive than City of Heroes, the other big super-hero MMO on the block, with a ton of dynamically-generated content.

Sony Online Entertainment has released a new trailer for their upcoming DC Universe Online. The MMO is set in the DC comics universe and will feature heroes such as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman (although they will not be playable)...

Can't wait for this game. I hope there will be a trial for it, because likely it'll be P2P. Still, looks great.

Lol? My comment didn't show up.

Any ways, I can't for this game either. It looks great and based on the game having a trailer, I would assume it is coming out before the holiday season (hopefully!).

    Game looks quite interesting but

    1: It'll be P2P, so, losing interest
2: It'll follow in all other MMORPGs that have released as of late... be popular at the start and then die off because of WoW.

I highly guarantee this will be P2P.

Almost EVERY retail MMO out now is P2P, there just too costly to maintain nowadays and players expect constant updates. I think this has a shot because its on PS3, so if the initial PS3 base is strong then it has a chance as the WOW effect has no effect on the PS3.

FFXI tried the whole 'lets put the game on a console' thing. It just doesn't work out, MMO's are really just meant for PC's. Trust me, i tried FFXI on my 360, it doesn't work, it's much better to play it on the PC, the system its meant to be played on.

FFXII sucked as an MMO either way. This is the same as RTS on consoles, they DO work on consoles, they just have to be MADE to function well, as evident by Halo wars and C&C.

You said it yourself, you like to play it on the system its MADE to be played on. While this game is built with PC AND PS3 in mind.

And in fact I have played Phantasy star Online on the xbox 360 and it functions very well, and with the keyboard peripherals and voice chat it makes it a whole lot easier.

In December 2002, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced that there were over 200,000 subscribers to Final Fantasy XI, allowing the company to break even and start making a profit. In January 2004, Square Enix announced that over 500,000 users utilizing over one million characters were playing the game. Before the release of World of Warcraft, it had the most active players of any MMORPG. There were between 200,000 and 300,000 active players daily in 2006. As of August 14, 2006 the Xbox 360 version was the sixth most played game on Xbox Live.
Next time, I wouldn't suggest labeling personal experience/preference as an overall fact.

Well I was interested in the game because I love all the superhero games and such. A kid at heart I guess.

But the videos honestly keep turning me off of it. Not necessarily the graphics or anything, but the gameplay feels like turn by turn action. You always see one person attacking and the other standing there doing nothing. (Is it Turn by turn? I haven't checked into the game.)

It won't be turn based (they say so at least). Probably easier to just record against some bots than another player which could ruin their performance
