Prince of Persia Classic Trailer

Chaos Swordsman | May 15, 2007 | Video | XBOX 360
IGN has gotten a hold of a trailer for Prince of Persia that's being remade on the XBOX 360. I must say, the graphics are definitely an improvement over the original. A lot of remakes these days have just a few additions at the end or a few more special features while retaining the same graphics, such as the recent Final Fantasy remakes on the GBA. They really outdid themselves this time.

Yeah they did. It's obvious they put a bunch of work into it. Outstanding! I don't like the Prince of Persia games, but I might enjoy this since it is pretty much a side-scroller.

When I read this headline I was pretty skeptical. The classic Prince of Persia was very basic and I didn't think a "remake" made sense. Now seeing the trailer I'm thinking "Wow!". Those levels they showed are straight out of the truly original Prince of Persia. Gameplay appears similar, with excellent graphics.

The only problem is that the original Prince of Persia got boring after a while. Gameplay was good and entertaining but ultimately the game is repetitive in spite of different puzzles. The main problem being that there's only so many moves your character can do and fighting is actually very limited to a few attacks and a parry move (or something to that effect).

Still. Seeing the levels and the way the Prince got through those areas is very nostalgic, even though he moves way faster and more elegantly than he ever did in the original

That looked pretty damn good, but it was a little too short for my liking. As can be expected for UbiSoft, however. >_>
