The first Killzone 2 commercial has been released. Its only 10 seconds long, but its a teaser trailer. From the looks of things, its leading up to a much bigger ad campaign near release.

Fallow the link to view the video.

Following on from our story Killzone 2’s marketing budget we can give you the TV teaser for what is shaping up to be a serious contender for the big game of 2009, Killzone 2. It’s nice and menacing, with plenty of horror trailer tropes to get you scurrying behind the sofa, only to peek back at the TV while you pre-order your copy…

Having read our recent articles on advertising and gaming (parts 1 and 2), do you think there are other things that might work? Any ideas for some off-the-wall Killzone 2 marketing?

The trailer will be on your TV screens from this week.

That fracking sucked. Good job Sony, you succeeded in failing to attract any attention to your biggest game, just like always.

It's a ten second long teaser leading on to an actual ad campaign (anyone who knows of Sony's adstyle would know this), so what did you expect?

Bottom line is - it sucked.

This is actually a good style from what i can see them doing there will be the 10 second advert for Helghast, 10 second advert for ISA and these will hit in the same 5 minute ad section between shows, this will build up to the full 30 - 60 second spot on the eve of release when the interest is piqued nationwide, it's a classic technique used quite a bit. Microsoft did it somewhat for Halo 3 in the UK with their "believe" adverts before a few days before release showing gameplay.

I disagree with the haters, for what it is I think it gets the message across. And if this is just a lead up to more extensive advertising it could work very well.

It seems as if Sony likes being its own undoing...I'm very disappointed.

Like many of you said, it was too brief...

True, it wasn't the most incredible action packed commercial ever YET it does do it'sjob well. This is the sort of commercial that will get people interested as they don't sho too much and old fans of Killzone will like this as it's the return of one of their favourite games. By doing short commercials they are slowly increasing peoples interest before showing them all the acion etc in the longer commercials as afterall, Killzone 2 does have a back story and they want people to read up on it and get to know the Killzone Universe.

Didn't think much to it. Pretty dark themes though, hope it isn't shown before the watershed.

It was breif for a reason, because its supposed to LEAD to the full campaign. Why pay so much for a something that isn't even the full ad campaign
