Or in my case, "she." Really though, I was so exciting thinking maybe you could continue Shepherd's story in the sequel. If they killed her/him off between the two games, I'm gonna be a little ticked.

Not that it'll prevent me from buying anyway.

Somehow I doubt that they'll kill off a character like Shepard. I mean the first human spectre is a big deal, and as Shepard was really the only one who believed in Sovereign being the main bad guy, I think we'll just pick up from the end of the last game.

Course he/she is not dead. We get to use our Shepherd from our own games XD

From what i've heard as well, the start of the game actually differs to things you chose in your previous games, such as if you let ashley or the other guy live, or shot wrex in the head etc =D

    WHAT THE *bleep* !?

I spent a week leveling my character in Mass Effect 1 to level 60 and getting him the Spectre Master Gear and it took another month to get 1,000 achievement points !!! Shepard can't be dead !!!

I almost cried when that message appeared on the screen.

Heheh guys he isn't dead. There is no way you aren't Shepard in Mass Effect 2.

The whole idea of a teaser trailer is to tease you into wanting to know more...

Well, it's sure as hell working. I want to know more. ¬_¬

I've noticed that the Geth at the end looks a lot mroe polished. It's probably because the clip is prerendered, but I'm holding out hope that it's just as crisp in the game (as well as holding out hope Shepard's alive)

The first game was waayy too short. This one had better have far more length in the main storyline and lots more side missions and random stuff to do.

Mass Effect ... too short ?

        CAN NOT COMPUTE NOW TERMINATING

Mass Effect was long as hell. If you went to every planet and completed every possible side-quest and dialogue option, one playthrough takes a looooong time. As if you want all the achievements ...

I completed the whole thing in no time at all. Bearing in mind different classes will find it harder than others leading to different play times.

Everything? Like all the side quests and all the codecs?? EVERYTHING??

Took me like ages to do it.

I'm ready to sell my soul for this game. The release isn't due for another year, but I'm already freaking out over this. Need lots and lots Mass Effect. Nao.

Mass effect is by far my #1 RPG, a lot more fun than Fallout 3 for me. I cannot wait for ME2. That teaser gave me a tingle in my pants. I just hope its as amazing as the first.

<3 Mass Effect to death. Yeah I said it, to death, I'll take it with me to my grave.

Can't wait for the sequel...all I ask for now, is a solid release date.

You can just picture Bioware putting so much more effort into this title than the previous in an attempt to live upto expectation.

Cannot wait to see improvements on what is already pure perfection in the RPG genre.

A obvious move for a sequel to a game with so much choice, Knights of the Old Republic 2 did the same thing.

So I'd say yeah, Shepard is dead.

You know, this game might actually span across two discs, considering they want to make it longer than the first Mass Effect.

And i welcome a multi-disc game and couldn't care if i have to get up and take half a minuter out of my gaming to change discs.

The longer, the better. I wouldn't care if it was four discs.

This is going to be awesome.

I'm actually really hoping that Shepard is killed, or at least reported killed, and you play as another person. You still hear about what Shepard did and meet his allies, but Shepard him/herself is dead. That would be pulled off well.

    Still, I'm pretty happy.

I can foreshadow an article about BioWare explaining how the "Continuity" feature will not be used for the sequel.

      Slumpy monkey Feb 22, 09
It has to be. Alot of the first game was built around that.

For example you have choices in the first game to kill certain important people within the story, it just wouldn't make sense if there suddenly alive. It would just create too big of a plot hole. The continuation feature was planned in advanced and was in mind when they were making the first one.

So I would safely assume it is going to be in place. They would have to change the whole story for it to be right, like EVERYTHING.

It makes the game virtually unplayable for those that never played the first game though. So how do they go around that? Tell them to BUY another game in order for THIS game to work? What if they just don't want to? It's unheard of to make a game and make it mandatory to have played the first one.

No they do what they did in KOTOR 2. Make you do a questionnaire of sorts in the beginning.

          It worked perfectly then.

Or they don't even have to go down that route, just make it do a random choices in the beginning or just have it set to one type of choices.

Eh, there was nothing wrong in it. I was just wondering just how they would implement that kind of thing in the game. Or it could be that I accidentally let out a bit of a spoiler; in which my bad.

          Yeah, I reported it.

There was an end game spoiler from Mass Effect there. I figured shouldn't be on an article about the sequel, since many people may not have played the first one who would be interested in picking it up.

I'll bet it goes along the lines of:

Everyone THINKS you are dead but you were in an explosion/gunned down and now you have to rebuild your body (giving you the option of taking the one from your previous game save)

    Sort of like saints row.
