Don't know about you guys, but this is the one I've been waiting for. This week, Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw takes a stab (get it?) at Resident Evil 5. In short, he feels this installment takes a lot of what made RE4 a good game and crapped on it.

One of his best, i haven't laughed out loud at one of his reviews for ages. I like this.

Hell yeah, that's the best review I've seen from him so far.

Okay, I don't like the language and usually don't laugh at the videos (smile maybe, but never laugh). This one actually produced a bit of laughter from me! Ah the AI partner bits were the best, I guess because I know exactly what he means Haha!

Dammit, I made the mistake of drinking soda while watching one of his reviews. Now my nose is all carbonated.

Wow, anyone who watches Yahtzee should know by now NEVER EVER to drink or eat whilst watching a review, it'll just end up messy XD

Back to the main point, this review was hilarious though i don't agree with some of his points, i am actually enjoying RE5 more than RE4 even though its obviously shorter.

Yahtzee's okay... he's more or less rambling than actually reviewing, as I see it. Laughing at him is pointless as I see it, and because of that, I can't find him funny.

You don't laugh at him. You laugh at some of the statements and verbal images that those statements put into your mind. Normally they're worth a smile. This one had me laugh because I can see me running from my AI partner who is trying to overkill health on me when I'm trying to just use a small amount to save the big ones. Indeed, that partner makes you run faster than the enemies usually do haha

None the less, by me laughing at his statements, I am laughing at/with/because of him. And I can't.

Understandable. It's the idea of laughing at someone trying to be funny through snide rants? I'm normally the same way, which is why comedians are not funny.

No, it's the idea that he tries to hard. Some comedians are genuinely funny for me, but some just can't pull it off at all. Like Yahtzee.

          I gotcha

so he's not funny because you don't want him to be funny and yet he's trying too hard.

          nobody likes a cynic, kid.

"It's like watching someone beat their fists against a wall, and then running off to the hospital before coming back to do it some more. And they used my medical insurance, and its my wall."

That had me cracking up for ages

Yeah, that was one of the two best lines in this video. The other:

      quote
You're carrying your armor in a pocket of your armor !

Hm, I don't mind this one or anything, since he makes good points, but it's not as funny as his other reviews in my opinion. Just isn't quite as insightful as most of his other ones.. just brief nitpicking without covering all the bases of the game.

Makes sense, I guess, when you consider RE5 is one of those games people will buy no matter what reviewers say... and he's getting his review out pretty late.

I would never buy a game that forces me to stand still so I could shoot.

"BUT BUT IT MAKES THINGS TENSE--"

Oh, hay, there's this game called Left 4 Dead. And it uses civilians. Civilians that can STRAFE.

AND SHOOT WHILE MOVING. WHAT A GRAND CONCEPT.

      HisServant77 Mar 26, 09
I believe . . . Isn't there a different control layout that allows people to STRAFE?
      • 0
        Mr Gray Mar 26, 09
You can strafe in the game alright, just not while aiming (as in RE4).
        Grand concept indeed.

He does over emphasize the funny in some areas, skipping out on some essential parts of the game that shoulda been covered in the process.

Also, get the impression he didn't play the original series anytime near the time frame they were released, because at the time the survival horror gameplay presented was considered state of the art (hardware limitations). Sure, going back and playing them now would make people want to bash their heads into his wall and use his medical insurance, but part of making a professional review is cutting out bias that otherwise discards timeframe/technology as a point of review.

Wouldn't want people bashing Final Fantasy VII because it looks like crap compared to 'FFXIV-2: Dirge of Buckles and Zippers'.

your partner is black.. a bit.

he was funny, as always. the visual gags were even better than usual tho. the one with the health bar that said 'oi watch out' was great, as well as the 'you put your armor in a pocket of your armor' and it had the big screen-in-screen effect with the armor..

best part was the giant unimpressed crab.
