Prototype was just recently announced to come out on June 9th, and Activision has also released the opening cinematic for the game. New York looks completely run down and...well empty. Much like the movie 'I Am Legend'. One can't help but make the connections between NYC in I Am Legend and NYC in Prototype. Either way, they did a good job with it.

Not much of the game looks truly original. The taking of powers thing was done in Web of Shadows, the general gameplay taken from, oh whats the game where it is like GTA but you are a cop ..uh...damn forget what it is called.

Anyways. Just saying not surprised they based the trailer on something. Their doesn't seem to be any original stuff in the game. The idea was just to take stuff for other franchises that did well.

Crackdown is the game you're thinking of. It was great fun in co-operative multiplayer, but only really sold in numbers due to the Halo 3 Beta that shipped with it.

Actually, its made by the creators of Hulk: Ultimate Smash, which was really fun. And its that gameplay that its based on.

Regardless of the developer, Prototype is still similar to Realtime World's Crackdown.

I don't see the point in a CGI trailer. I mean other than to show off how complex their shaders can get when put through a full movie like render process, it doesn't have a purpose. I mean sure if this was a movie but it's not gamers have already seen gameplay and to be honest it's never going to live up to that video so why do they bother.

And? That makes it even worse, it should be used in rare cases when perhaps the game looks really bad graphically but Prototypes graphics in-game should be used in that cinematic.

But, unless I'm mistaken, the Opening Cinematic in a game is hardly ever comprised of actual gameplay graphics. It's used foremost to begin a story, not sell or make a game look good.

All I see is a hype train trying to overshadow the lacklustre gameplay videos I've seen so far.

This trailer really didn't do anything for me at all. Just a guy running with a few supernatural acrobatic moves thrown in. Gameplay looks way better.
