Nah, I just think that Microsoft see Apple as more of a threat than Sony, so they'd rather side with Sony than Apple

I know, but Shh! It's a secret! Don't mess up a small glimmer of light that may reach fanboys!

Yeah nothing like the "big brother" looking after the "little sister"

Though yes Apple are more than a threat to Microsoft than Sony is...not much more considering the majority of games still aren't Mac compatible but they aren't far behind these days

Success in the technology sector isn't decided by who has more games. Neither MS or Apple make that much off of gaming. It's software, hardware, and other non- gaming applications. Just because we all love games doesn't mean we can't face reality. Gaming is a part of their strategy, just not a big one.

The casual gamer drives more profits for Apple due to its Ipod touch and Iphone applications. They probably aren't worried about missing out on big PC titles that bring in much smaller profits per sale, due to high dev costs.

See...If they can come together in the PC world, why the hell can't they do the same thing in the gaming world to create one bad ass system (just follow PS3's infrastructure because the RROD and E74 sucks).

Because Microsoft doesn't make laptops or PCs. they make the Operating System for them. Sony isn't a competing brand in the PC sector they are a partner. Compaq, Hewlett Packard, Sony, Dell would be competing brands. But all of them are Microsoft partners. Sony and Microsoft only compete directly in the console gaming sector. If Sony went into the business of making Operating Systems it would be a different story.

The commercial was about selling the Microsoft Operating system. Which is predominently a PC thing. They compete with Mac OS which is available on Apples computers. Frankly I don't think Microsoft would care if you bought an Apple, Compaq, or Sony. As long as you bought the one with the Windows OS on it. Which Apple can do now but usually don't.

Just a quick FYI for those unaware, Hewlett Packard and Compaq are the same company.

They are still seperate brands though. Compaq still operates independently in many ways. It is the weirdest merger ever.

All contact I've had with the company about my old Compaq laptop has been through HP, so if they do operate independently, tech support and repairs must have been the only things that merged.

As I understand it HP actually aquired Compaq primarily for the business infastructure that they had. HP had the better technology and Compaq had better corporate structure. How it all works makes no sense to me. But they still sell products under both brands. So whatever.

You can't decide if you hate Sony or Apple more?

Or are you talking about the annoying people in the commercial?
