lol funny as usual, though I do agree that alot of the game felt missing and EA is evil.

I miss the difficulty of the sims 2.

To be fair, there's more content than ever (especially with the Exchange), and some of the expansion pack stuff (gardening, vehicles) are included from the start. Also he was incorrect about there being only one town -- Riverview is freely downloadable.

EA is somewhat evil, but I think much less so than before.

I didn't really like this review. Admittedly, I'm kind of biased, although..I used to bash EA at every opportunity, too. I think they've done a lot more good than bad lately, including this game. But yeah, Yahtzee just seemed excessively bitter this time 'round.

How was Sims 2 difficult? (I didn't play.)

Yahtzee's job now is to sound like a nit-picking douche to make us laugh. Even when he likes a game, he rarely comes out and says it. I do agree some of his reviews are a little on the "unfair" side, but all a part of the persona he's famous for, I suppose. At least he's usually got a point.

Yeah, I meant excessive even for him, though. He seems pretty honest to me -- notes the good points of a game..just tends to be more negative cause that's how his humour works (he's admitted this).
Didn't really see much of a point with this one -- the main thing seemed to be blindly hating EA like everyone else. Well, the slave thing was interesting, I just see it another way.

The sims 2 didn't have the mood feature and sims where utterly *bleep*.
Also the moods would almost constantly drop making it much harder to make your sim happy and stay happy for long. (Cheats and rich sims excluded)

And most of that "expansion" stuff seemed like it should have been in the game, since it was already there on release day. In fact, there are almost no hairstyles in the Sims 3 base, as opposed to the fairly large amount in Sims 2 base.

The game is good, but EA is going to whore it out even worse than what they did in the sims 2.

I think that's his schtick really, that games are supposed to be fun and diverting, he's trying to render all the games that have 'grind' in them to worthless dust. Personally, I like that. Games should be fun, if they're not fun then something went wrong somewhere.

Dwg, I see what you mean. I played the first game and it sounds the same in that respect, but I prefer it this way -- instead of stressing about that stuff you can concentrate on the more fun aspects of the game..I think it works for The Sims..keep in mind I play pretty tough games on tough difficulties and enjoy it -- I hate the idea of "dumbing down" a game (a la Spore), but I think it works great here.

There does seem to be a lack of hairstyles and probably other things, so as to get people to spend money at the store, yes..

Maybe. It's just as much the fault of gamers for buying the stuff.

I am a big anti-fan of the Sims franchise, and my Sims loving brother was sitting behind me while I watched this.

    Naturally hilarity ensued.
