So... This is an on-rails shooter? WTF?

Wow, the game looks good but... WTF?

Wii can't handle third person/good graphics. That's my assumption, anyway.
Agreed, on-rails doesn't work for Dead Space (then again I'm biased).

The reason they went on-rails is because on-rails shooters are MUCH cheaper to develop than a full out third person game, and as well all know Mature games on the Wii or somewhat of a gamble. Thus in the instance the game flops in sales they have less of a loss in profit, and in the instance it does succeed they can then start to push for more expensive titles.

Ah I see, however, now I am NOT going to be picking this title up for I don't need AI to hold my hand through a shooting game.

Wow man, I feel let down

It's basically EA's way of saying "Sorry your console can't handle the awesomeness of Dead Space, however were going to give you an on rails shooter!"

Capcom have done the same with the Resident Evil series too.

          That's a great theory, too, Ech0ez.

@chautemoc: I actually read that somewhere, whether or not it was confirmed by them I don't know.
Needless to say after looking up some interviews I found what Visceral Games are claiming to be the reason, which is simply put "We wanted to create a new experience on the Wii. We didn't just want to make a Dead Space clone, we wanted to make a new experience" not the exact wording but more or less. I imagine they specifically went on-rails since HOTD and REUC both sold pretty well.

As for Resident Evil, that was ridiculous on Capcom's part, RE4 on the Wii has sold over 2 million copies and if memory serves Umbrella Chronicles has yet to break 1.5 million. RE4 is also much more popular with the fans. Granted Capcom aren't exactly the brightest in the gaming industry, but all logical sense would of told them to go with another 3rd person game on the Wii, even a toned down port of RE5 would of done better than the rails games, at least sales wise. They really have no excuse other than wanting to make a quick buck for lack of a better term.

Game looks fantastic. Can't wait for it to come out, loved the first Dead Space and I love on-rails shooters.
