A new video for the motion controller Sony has been working on. This is Sony answer to Natal. Enjoy it, probably it will be the last video about the PS3 motion controller device until the upcoming TGS

It's not even their answer to Natal they were announced at the same event. An answer to something generally concerns one company releasing something and then another months later doing the same. There was a day between these announcements.. Answer to Natal.

And they can't be considered "ripoffs" of each other, because odds are neither company knew of the other's device until E3.

I like these types of videos, the whole R&D sector of the business. It's really interesting how they're doing it, the camera judging the size of the sphere and what not... very cool.

I think one of the true strengths of this motion controller is the lack of radical interface change. Whilst I do think Natal looks and will play brilliantly, the lack of controller and the sheer change in direction already seems to limit its intergration into the hardcore games. Yes, it may feature in the next Halo, or the next Gears, but I want motion control to have a cunning balance of not being tacked on within the game, whilst still maintaining the ease of use and functionality of a controller. I personally (and people will differ), am not ready to consider gaming as something where I need to get up and move about, flapping my hands in order to achieve what can be done in less effort with a controller. Granted, Sonys motion control will require extra effort, but Natal seems to require full bodied attention, and for someone who works 50 hours a week in an Administration support role, I'd prefer a less active involvement WHILST still having this moton functionality.

I can already think of heaps of ways this controller could be used. Sonys motion control hits home with me because from the looks of it (and sadly thats all I have to go by at this time), it has the ability to be intergrated cunningly into our hardcore titles and have a perfect balance of accuracy and ease of use.

Natal and Sonys motion control probably shouldnt be compared as much as Sony and the Wii. Natal is a different piece of equipment and personally (dont take this the wrong way Xbox lovers!), it seems to me as if it is something which will not achieve full acceptance from the hardcore to the same extent as Sony's will.

Then again, Microsoft market extremely well so....

Microsoft could market a tiger turd hooked up to a car battery and people would buy it purely from the advertising.

WTF did you just say about my turds?

I generally like having a controller of sorts for all the gaming I do. Also, the PS3 Motion sensing controller just looks sexual... to me anyway.

If they make the right style of gaes with this motion sensor controller then it should be a big hit, I love playing on the Wii because certain games on there are fun and if Sony can pull this off then, hopefully it's good competition.

Thing is the right style of games is every style of game. Jack Tretton has already stated this controller is accurate enough to be used in games like God of War 3. Quantic Dream want to use it in Heavy Rain at some point so they probably have this controller and realise how powerful it is. This is going to be as intuitive I feel as any motion control out there and with the camera support crouching and basic movements could be mapped to the person like Natal does anyway.
