It seems like they're taking what was an excellent game and turning it into a run and gunner. Honestly, is shooting the only decent thing they can use for multiplayer? Not speaking specifically about Bioshock, but it seems like whenever we talk about online multiplayer, we can only ever think of shooting and racing...

Tbh, looks like the made an immersive single player experience...

...and with two weeks left in production thought to themselves "You know what would sell more, if we tacked on a really shitty multiplayer!"

EDIT: I'm also slightly annoyed at the Fallout 3 style animation at the start (even though I know the original Bioshock came out before F3).

...so you're annoyed that they're keeping the same style from Bioshock 1 because it's similar to some parts in F3?

      Oooooookay

I'm just saying that the multiplayer here isn't any different from your regular standard FPS, I would have thought that 2K (who are very innovative designers) could have brought something new to the table, that's all.

So, plasmids and using them on your environment as traps and such in a multiplayer game aren't new for online FPS?

Since most online shooters right now are Soldier vs Alien/Nazi/or some mix of the two in a brown and grey environment, I see that as something new.

2K aren't doing the online aspect though, just overseeing it. And what relevance that has to your comment about F3, the only thing I actually commented on, I don't know.

I don't see why people are dumping on it so much; looks like it could be fun. Or am I just missing the bandwagon?

I'm with you on this one Tiger.

The responses here kinda confuse me since, well... wasn't a big response to the first game "Man I wish I could do all of this stuff in a multiplayer/online mode." There are a lot of games that get that reaction and when someone finally does it and look like they're doing a great job at it people bitch.

I mean not only did they grant the wish of multiplayer, they had the single player game and multiplayer game created by two separate teams so that the addition of this mode wouldn't ruin the single player game.

Really, what valid complaint is there?(Note: Valid would mean that it doesn't involve it being skewed by opinion. You can't say whether it's definitively good or bad until you've played it.)

You can't say they're taking away from the single player game because the entire staff of the first game is working on JUST THAT. Does the fact that a developer actually listened to what the consumers and critics wanted confuse people so much that it triggers some kind of inexplicable hate?

The graphic style is the same as the first game but with what looks like more details here and there and the player animations are better than fallout's or really anything from Bethesda since they always skimp out on player animations. If you're talking about the 1950's-60's cartoon-esque characters the game takes place in 1959, when those cartoon ads were prevalent. They used some of those very characters for plasmid ads in the first game.

I loved the first game, but you still have to admit that it was rather short and nothing extends hours put into a game like online modes.

I think this might be quite good. Theres potiential for teamwork in this if you can play with friend. Ex, one freezes the other smashes and etc.

It looks alright, but not exactly something which stands out. I think the idea is to look at this as a bonus to the singleplayer rather than a main addition to the game.

Well they had a whole different team of devs working on it, so I wouldn't say so.

Oh sure, the developers themselves will think their just as important, but really everyone will be buying Bioshock 2 for the story I think. The multiplayer might be good, but its only got like 8 player matches right? I don't think its meant to be considered a main attraction.

So you reckon 2K hired a whole other team of devs just for a side thing? I doubt it.

Obviously the singeplayers the main thing, since Bioshock 1 that would have always have been the main thing, but I don't think the multiplayer will be as small as people seem to think. It's not impossible for a dev to get a full package and do it right, and right now 2K are one of the few people should have faith in, since they've proven themselves capable.

I feel 2K think it is a main thing, but will be disapointed with the response. It'll probably end up like other strong Singleplayer games like The Darkness and MGS4, there will be a fanbase, but it'll probably stick to kinda of a small niche group of people, not the huge amount ofs people you see on say Modern Warfare, Halo or even lesser mainstream titles.

At least that's how I feel.
