I think it's safe to say that this video was done because of Neill Blomkamp's kick ass Halo videos that he made while he was still good with Bungie. Without Blomkamp doing this one, it still turns out to be a cool video.

Watching this, along with the Halo 3 "Believe" ads leaves me drooling for a halo movie. this is such a bad ass video that it really is getting me excited for the game. I guess u can say that the marketing is working on me. How about when he is first having his hair buzzed, the look on his face is incredible. Everyone should remember that Rupert Sanders with MJZ directed this. These to are responsible for the believe ads. And we are going to see an extended cut on Spike TV on Monday September 7 at approx 10:30 PM ET/PT. source(http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2009/09/04/vbg234.aspx)

Yeah, because video game adaptations have such a long track record of being good and living up to expectations.

What language were they speaking in this video ? It sounds vaguely German or some kind of Eastern European language.

When was the last video game film you thought would be good?

They've never picked a game with an actual story, save for Resident Evil. It's always like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.

Nobody has every tried to do a real movie, it's always been cash-ins with maybe one or two "stars" and an unknown director.

Yeah but come on. This film would have had Peter jackson and Blomkamp working on it. It would have been awesome.

Reminds me of the old school Nintendo ads; when most of them were live action.

Hell, even Super Smash Brothers had one. Tongue in cheek of course, but it was hilarious.

The difference with Halo as a concept for a game is that it could work. No it doesn't have to be in first person and with so much depth to it's world it doesn't even need Master Chief so there is plenty of chance for dialogue. This advert shows that Halo could simply be just a great Sci-Fi war movie. It almost makes me wish Neill Blomkamp caried on with Halo but District 9 is a flawless movie, probably the best Sci-Fi movie since Aliens.
