For those not familiar, there's a controversy surrounding Medal of Honor right now because gamers can play as the Taliban during multiplayer. Fox News had a Gold Star Mom on a morning program to discuss her objections to the game.

The upcoming Electronic Arts game Medal of Honor for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 has generated a bit of controversy over the fact that it portrays events from the War in Afghanistan in 2001. Because the conflict is on-going and American llives are being lost, some like the Gold Star Moms find the concept of a game allowing gamers to play as members of the Taliban and shoot American soldiers during multiplayer to be disrespectful. Fox News had one of the Gold Star Moms on their morning show this morning to get her opinion on the game.

Haha I was waiting for this.. To be honest I don't care if gamers can play as the Taliban online as it is a game. The Taliban can nuke these fake US Military soldiers for all I care as it is not real.

Did that women actually say when commenting about World War 2 games "That it's not based on real people"? Well there's disrespect for the fallen right there.

I can see how she has personal interest in this with her son dying an all, but really, in this day and age I find it absolutely astonishing that people seem to believe that video games = reality. No one is going to be sympathising with the Taliban after playing this MOH, just like MOH: Allied Assault/Cod 1 when you played as the Nazi's.

Although, I bet she has put hours and hours into playing video games [/sarcasm].

As somebody with a sister currently stationed over seas I dont see what this woman has a problem with. I havent heard anything of you being forced to play as the Taliban in the campaign (you know where things can have an actual emotional impact)
I dont think anybody but the most redblooded americans are gonna be PO'd that the 13 year olds who get it for Christmas are playing running around as the Taliban. Now once that 13 year old sticks his game characters nuts in the persons face, then people get irritated.

I know right, its not like they're making you do a mission, playing as the taliban stearing a plane into... well you know the rest.

Calm the *bleep* down (not you obviously lol) I say, people are way too oversensitive.

As far as I am concerned, I think if anything that the game might make some people realize the hell our boys and girls are going through over in the middle east.

Also I wish the media would report it correctly the CONFLICT in Afghanistan is not a war. The US has not been in a war since WWII. The current "wars" are not wars at all, they are conflicts, war was never declared.

Yet every uneducated prick in America will tell you that it is a war because someone said "War on Terror."

This is sadly very true. It is one of my biggest pet peeves, it's annoying how many people don't realize this.
