Video comparison: Gears of war vs. Killzone

We knew it was coming. After the big impact Killzone 2 had at E3. People started comparing some things to Gears of War. Well know we will see if they hold up. Watch this video comparison and you decide on the better game.

    In terms of graphics, they are quite equal if you ask me, but Killzone looks like it'll do better as a shooter. Reminds me of Rainbow Six Vegas and Gears of War...Gears is a lot more fun, but Vegas is what I want in a shooter, more tactical and all.

    Please remember Killzone 2 is pre alpha by the time it is finished it will look alot better than it does now.

    Yeah yeah yeah, I realize that. Killzone wasn't as spectacular as it was hyped up to be, though. I'm just judging by the video, what they have now. Wait, it's not near completion yet? For a game that's set to be released in Q1/2 of next year, that should be close to what it'll look like.

      Actually it is just as good as it was hyped up to be, it was hyped to be as good if not better in parts than the pre rendered trailer, it did that in real time with more than unfinished code i mean give it the 6 months it still has and the game seriously has so much gloss and polish left to be added, it will look even coser in spec to the trailer...

    I like the video of Killzone better. Killzone looks like the better game to me.

    They need to work on the enemy reaction there, plus placing demolition charges on doors....they can most certainly do better than that.

    Well,the graphics look equal to me but i think the gameplay of killzone 2 is better because i played little time in gears of war and the fact you killed by the enemy too much fast(for starters)was bothered to me and i think the gameplay of killzone 2 is better and have more fun than the gameplay of gears of war.

    I was unfortunate to acturally play GoW so from that I would not rate it anyways, but comparing it to Killzone from what I just sore Killzone seems more of the game that looks better.

    I like the song they chose. But Killzone is looking pretty impressive. I was surprised by how much they were actually able to achieve so far when I watched the trailer on my PS3.

    gears of war is one of them "HOLY HELL THIS IS COOL" games when you first turn it on. After about 3 hours, it gets old. After about 4 hours, you're wondering why it was so short. After about 5 hours, i was wondering why my 360 wasn't working any more.

    It's funny how in Gears of War they just used all the multiplayer footage of all the really lush beautiful maps and stuff. Of course those look great in comparison to Killzone 2's drab city environment. But show the drab city environment that makes up 80% of Gears' campaign and then you've got a better comparison.

    I'm sure if Killzone 2 wanted to be all pretty and vibrant like some of those multiplayer maps it could.

    I think the animation is worlds better in Killzone 2, when it comes to sheer visual quality though I think they're pretty close though. Although I do think Killzone 2 looks more detailed with sheer complexity of the environments and what not.

    But damn, we're comparing Gears of War to a game that's got about a total of 4 minutes of in-game footage.

    Right now, it's almost the same. I think Killzone looks more realistic which I think is better.

    I can't stand GOW's camera, I got motion sickness just looking at it. Srsly.

    The weapons in Killzone look better than gears...

    I don't know what you are talking about seeker, but that is some amazing enemy reactions. Did you see how that guy reacts when you shoot him in the stomach or how he flails his arms.

      I'm confused too, the enemy reactions to being shot are second to none. I've never seen an AI enemy physically grab right were they were shot and flail to the ground.

      Then there's that one guy that's running and gets shot and the momentum of his run continues him tripping forward onto the ground dead. Awesome.

      What I mean is that in one part of the footage, he's right next to 2 helghast soldiers, they keep facing the other way while you're shooting them, I'd expect to be shot the second I get spotted...unless they were focused on other ISA comrades rather than just me.

        I'm pretty sure that was due to the fact that they had just vaulted over that wall and the AI was still kicking in. Since he was right next to him that also constitutes as a flank.

    Wow killzone 2 looks great, i say its better than GoW, and its only in its pre alpha state. You can only imagine.

    Did they seriously use multiplayer footage in comparison to a demo that was probably polished for the show?

    C'mon, now... show some of act 4.

    Best to wait for the final Killzone 2 product, because Gears of War is by far a more polished game.
