Within the video we see game play footage and the levelling up system. What the video fails to inform us about, however, is the ability to switch from a 3D to a 2D perspective.

NIS America has revealed that “you’ll be able to switch between the 3D character models and the retro 2D sprites of the original version” in regards to Cave Story 3D which hits the shelves on August 9th. This means that fans of the game on the PC will still be able to indulge the ultra-retro stylings of the first iteration. But just in case you want to see the new graphics, you can check out the first gameplay footage after the break.
