Ninja Theory’s take on the Devil May Cry Franchise, nicely named DMC, has a trailer from the E3 Event. It’s got Dante with his Black hair (nice to see they’re sticking with that), demons, walking, swords, and I believe I saw a scythe in there as well.

The gameplay actually looked good. I still hate the way he looks (although his hair does revert to white for a second, I guess that's the devil trigger for this game?) but honestly, ever since I beat Enslaved, which was genuinely very good, I have hope that this game will turn out well.

At 1:05 his hair turns white.

I sincerely hope that's not the new Devil Trigger look. That would be incredibly lame.

Also, his hair color isn't really the problem for me. The problem is his douchey hair cut.

I still have high hopes, and I think this will turn out surprisingly well, but I'm still not liking Dante's new look. That's my only issue so far.

Yeah honestly, the look is the only real issue. I think that definitely is his new devil trigger to be honest, but I think they're gonna explain it as, the more he uses it, the more naturally white his hair becomes, or something.

Gameplay looks fun. Curious what the story is gonna be though. I'm not getting the whole "DT" though since he apparently only discovered it in DMC3. And while this game may be a reboot, you're not gonna convince the die-hard fans of that.

Indeed, his DT was discovered in DMC3, but this game supposedly takes place before the 3rd, so I am guessing this game is gonna retcon.

maybe the white hair thing is not exactly his DT as it were, but some previous more powerful mode which became just how he normally looks after he used it over and over? the only way i can think of to fit it in with the main canon. i think it could be either just an alternate universe where he looks different, or not actually Dante, maybe someone related to him or someone he knows using his name? could be Vergil perhaps, or maybe even Sparda when he was young. or just an impostor trying to be him.

im holding out hope that theres still something Capcom isnt telling us.

I was just calling it DT since that's what we've always called it. It actually looks nothing like DT, but more along the lines of an accessory, similar in use to the Bangle of Time (where it consumes the DT gauge and grants you advanced powers). DT refers to Dante changing into his demon form, and he certainly didn't transform, outside if his gnarly insta-white hair move. As for it being more powerful? Doubt it. DT seemed to reach it's peak already in DMC2. It's just gotta be some simple devil power, not trigger. Wonder what sword he's using...

sorry, when i said more powerful i meant than his normal form in this game, not more than DT obviously. i was looking at it as possibly a way for them to explain how his hair became silver/white. although wasnt he and Vergil born like that?

and yeah the sword is for sure not Rebellion, so not sure on that. it sort of looked like it had a hand grip thing like Red Queen does.

I hope it isn't a Red Queen clone. Keep all DMC4 away from this game. Hopefully though Rebellion will be acquired sometime during the game. Kinda like how the Force Edge was introduced in the final chapters of DMC3.

I agree with you about the hair. Although it wasn't really necessary to begin with, but now that they made his hair black, they obviously need to explain how it becomes white. I hope the game doesn't center around his hair color though :-/

Honestly shinobi_razor, I am a huge DMC fan, and I personally think DMC4 gets overhated. It certainly wasn't perfect, and could have been better, but it was still an enjoyable game.

Purely white hair is a sign of having devil genes.

In some of the expanded universe backstory he dyes his hair when younger so as to not be bum-rushed by millions of anti-devil police constantly, so it's likely that's what's happening here (in the first released screen, the back of his hair had flecks of white in it too).

It turning to white is probably akin to a power boost, showing him becoming more in tune with his devil side (even if not fully DT).

Gameplay looks as fun as ever, game looks as stylish as ever; I can live with Dante looking like a bell-end, and I'm happy to see some people not only focusing on how their *bleep*ing husbando looks.

Glad someone see's it the same way I do! the game looks fun as hell, the fighting looks amazing and even though Dante looks like a damn idiot I'll be playing this game ALOT.

so you think this could take place when he was going by the name Tony Redgrave? possibly, but he shouldnt have had Ebony and Ivory at that point, unless they are retconning that part.

They don't seem to be following canon exactly to the letter, no.

Gameplay look pretty good, the new Dante is growing on me the more I realise that this is a prequel more than reboot and I always assumed Dante was a bit of a emo whipping boy in his younger days. So far looking good, maybe the appearance could use a bit of editing but everything else looks good.
