I love how easy it was to tell the girl had no idea what she was talking about. I mean she never said anything too stupid or ignorant, but she obviously didn't know much about the industry or games for any systems.

I don't really think this guy understands what he is talking about. In all honesty, Wii and PS3 have had very similar years, excluding the fact that Wii drew in a ton of casual and non-gamers which shot the units sold way up. Neither console has had a stellar lineup of games this last year, with the vast majority of sales going to a few big first party titles, like Zelda and Metroid for Wii and Resistance and Warhawk for PS3. Also, both systems are looking towards major releases next year, like MGS4 and FFXIII for PS3 and SSBB and FFCCCB for Wii, along with Wii Fit which will sell a million copies to the grandma's of the world. Also, both systems will be launching new online applications, Home and Wiiware.

I think PS3 will certainly pick up some slack next year, especially once it gets some titles that truly look better than a 360 game, but I don't see Wii's popularity dying anytime soon.

The difference though is that there is going to be a lot more PS3 games worth buying next year. Even before the end of the Wii's lifespan, I'm almost assured that the system sellers for this generation, will almost be the same as the last generation (Super Mario, SSB, Metroid, Mario Party etc.) whereas the PS3 is a lot more receptable to good 3rd-party titles and thus will have a lot more exclusives and good games.

I dunno with this one. I never thought the that Wii would get old, but now, I'm finding myself selling like half of my Wii games on eBay, trying to save up enough money to buy a 360 in time for Christmas. Obviously, the summer drought of games for Wii contributes to this. But, apart from MP3 and SMG (which are bound to be sure fire hits, anyway), I can't really see myself buying any more Wii games this year. With the 360 however, I plan on getting Halo 3, The Orange Box, Pro Evolution 2008, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4 and maybe Bioshock and Mass Effect, not even mentioning the older games such as Gears of War. It's not that I think that the Wii is all of a sudden a crap console, because it isn't. It's just that now I see it as any other console, just with a elaborate control scheme and not as much in the online and graphical department. Oh, and before you come at me with the gameplay > graphics argument, I agree with you. But it's not like all these games coming out for 360 and PS3 don't have great gameplay. Otherwise they wouldn't be so critically acclaimed and being hyped so much. Then, after gameplay, what's there to rate on? Well, graphics, perhaps?

It's unfair that the Wii fails to sell many third party games, mainly due to the fact that it's obvious that the third parties put very little effort into them. They often just port games from PS2 and Xbox, and throw in Wii controls and watered down graphics for a cheap buck. Nintendo have shown that great games can be made on the Wii, and they've thrown down the gauntlet to the third party developers to pull their finger out and start utilizing the Wii's potential, instead of just making party games.

Sorry I've sort of strayed off the subject of the PS3 here. It's just that I don't own one or plan to get one (Or even ever played one), so it'd be unfair to compare it.

Woah. How long it take you to type all of that?

And this is hardly any news. We all know the PS3 still has a bright future.

Many Wii games fail to sell well because they play horribly, look horrible and have terrible critical reception.

We've seen that high-quality third party games (such as Resident Evil 4) can sell very well, and RE4 was on three other platforms. It's likely nearing a million sales by now, if it hasn't passed it already. It's about as far from casual as you can get, and it is constantly selling. And besides Metroid, this is on a system without a single standout exclusive released yet(there are some great games, but they aren't exclusives). Of course, the quality of the PS3's line-up will improve, but so will the Wii's line-up. Neither console has gone anywhere near their full potential in any way, whether it be in terms of gameplay, graphics or controls.

Of course, the PS3 will do better in 2008, but I don't see this as being it's "huge comeback". I'd imagine that both the 360 and Wii are still a few million units ahead of it by the end of the year.

That guy was a complete and total idiot, and the chick was nothing but eye candy.

WWE for the Wii being a big system seller? No. He lost every shred of credibility there. A title that isn't expected to do good, compared to other titles such as DBZ: BT3, No More Heroes, etc.

      dmf_dynasty | October 20, 2007
He didn't say that WWE was going to be a system seller. He was using that to see if Wii owners would buy those big profile 3rd party games for the system.

yeah. but it is pretty unfair to use WWE as WWE is marketed towards a group of people. people who like wrestling.

The thing we don't know is if that group of people are actively buying wiis or ps3's/360's that's why everything is speculation

Anyone else notice how most of these lists involving 'how/why/when' or 'x reasons' usually try to bring some positive perspective to any Sony downfall?

It's almost like you fanboys now are in denial.

      Sony Downfall
I highly doubt a company like sony, is in ruin or are close to it because of their PS3. 2007 was shitty for the Ps3 admittedly, but 2008 looks like nothing but up for the system.

          Striking nerves sitewide it seems.

I see where you're coming from though with it, if you go through 4 SKU's in under a year, the people end up wondering whats up at some point. Actually was it 5 because the PAL SKU changes? Either way the way the whole thing has been handled is basically a laughing stock moment while everyone watches.

LOL as if Halo 3 was guaranteed to be a good game, just like Halo 2 was supposed to be, and we all know how that turned out. It was virtually guaranteed to sell crazy amounts of copies though.

Despite all this, nothing is set in stone, and if you think that the 360 or the Wii have this in the bag yet then that's just plain ignorant.

So you think Sony are in the middle of there downfall? When there sales just went up 170%? When the PS3 is outselling the 360 in Europe, Australia and Japan and probably in the states as well?

    Yes quite a downfall

    Sony fanboy, much?

That was a shitty video. The guy stuttered his way through it because he was trying to remember what his scripted lines were supposed to be.

The girl also probably has no idea what she's talking about, as Cdemon said, she is nothing more than eye-candy in hopes of drawing fanboys to the video in hopes that it be reposted in places like this.

That vid = failure on all counts.

Exactly, I called her eye-candy. The Wii doesn't suck. There's a difference between a console sucking, and it's games sucking.

This guy is failing to realize that Nintendo and it's third party developers are not sitting around all day playing video games (bad example). Sure, good things are happening with the PS3, but the Wii has some good stuff in store too.

Oh, and I am a bit of a Wii fanboy and I think it is a little overrated, but it still deserves it.

      Step 2: Release GOOD exclusives

This guy is a flaming idiot. How long am I forced to sit through listening to him list the blindingly obvious? "Guitar Hero III will be popular". Well NO SHIT SHERLOCK! It's also going to be on the Wii, so that point is moot. WWE is also on the Wii (and will sell phenomenally simply because it's a known sequel). I saw this coming months ago, yet this dumbass thinks he knows everything about how the Wii's fantastic sales will end very, very soon and the 360/PS3 will both rocket in popularity.

I'm not calling bullshit on what he's saying, mind you, it's just what he's saying is so *incredibly obvious*.

Im sorry but i gotta disagree with the Wii sucking, the games are most likely lacking in some area's and i do think a little the Wii is overrated but its sales says others wise.
And i do believe the PS3 will make a come back in 08, I mean the very big titles are coming out then.

Everyone knows the PS3 will make a comeback. Crist, there the console I see more future games coming out.

I think the Wii has many great titles aswell, Brawl and Kart next year will boost there sells. Althrought, it will be close with PS3's Metal Gear Solid and possibly Final Fantasy series having a new game.

Also, that video was 100% fail. He's just a Sony fanboy, bringing in the cons of the other consoles instead of the pros.

The PS3 will defenitly make a comeback.

It will be a good contest between the Wii and the PS3 but the PS3 will always be the better console.
