Gothic Girl | December 20, 2007 | Video | PC Playstation 3
Yet another Gametrailers comparison has surfaced, this time comparing the PS3 and 360 games in the The Orange Box. And fans of each console will be happy to discover that there doesn't seem to be any major differences between both versions.

The five-games-in-one Orange Box goes head to head with itself in this next-gen console comparison.

Hmm, Half life, looks better on PS3 to me.

Portal, 360 seems a little lighter. Neither is better.

TF2, I can't even stand looking at that game so I'll say 360 wins just to balance it out.

You can't stand looking at one of the greatest multiplayer FPS' of all-time? Care to elaborate what you dislike about it? It's an interesting 'cartoon' graphical FPS game, very balanced classes, as well.

Why did Storm get thumbed down for that? I thumb down stupid comments, not ones that clash with your own opinion.

That small ammount of gameplay is enough for me to not be interested in getting this game anymore and im glad I watched this for that matter.

As for the colour cast, I dont care. They look okay but it is nothing major.

Seriously, wtf is with the thumbs down? This is really drawing me away from this site...

What small amount of gameplay are you talking about, tidus? The Half-Life 2 series will keep anyone playing for quite a long time, Portal's shear genius, and TF2 leaves great MP.

The only difference between them is that one was made by EA, and one lags more.

Was never interested in Half Life.

TOB was accepted about just as well as Assassin's Creed on PS3. A few good reviews and a ton of lag complaints.

Once again, where's Sony's 'uber Cell' now? Seems to me the Cell is more flash than substance these days...

Well that has nothing to do with the Cell, it has something to do with EA themselves since they seem to hate the PS3 these days. And Lazy devs as well.

Also the only way for a multiplatform to look good or great on both is for the devs to start making it on the PS3 version first then porting it. The way they have been doing up til now is been nothing but a bombshell. For PS3 owners.

At Red 9, many comparison videos showed the systems graphics as almost equal with a few more showing the PS3 as slightly better.

At finalblade98, quit with the conspiracy against the PS3 theories, everyone has been thoroughly annoyed for a while. You're right to say devs haven't tried hard enough to optimize the PS3's graphical abilities, but that doesn't mean that most don't try at least relatively hard and simply make the PS3 version worse because in their honest opinion "Teh PS3 suxxorz."

Also read my post i also stated that when they port 360 games to PS3 they tend to suck for PS3 owners. Now when you port games from PS3 to other systems, everyone wins, since they worked on a harder system first and since the 360 is easier to develop they don't need work hard to make those games good. With that comes lazy devs since instead of making it for the PS3 first or Making the game for the PS3 separate to the 360 they don't need to worry about porting it. Look at CoD4 that games looks crazy on the PS3, and 360, cause they decided to put both separate coders for both systems. Although that's cause they had alot of people available. But that's where porting a game from 360 to PS3 will never get good results.

Tell me a few games that has been ported from 360 to PS3 that looks and plays great to 360. Not alot.

Besides I believe EA has something against PS3, since me and VeGiTax2 had a conversation about this 3 weeks ago.
Stated that same thing. So please it not a false conspiracy its there its just porting 360 games to PS3 has never shown any great results and that's fact, and that's cause devs are just lazy and not really working with the system.

Devs like Team ninja that made a revamped port of Ninja Gaiden 1 and black to make sigma looking that good and working and playing well shows you that hey with a little time and real effort games on the PS3 can be that good.

But as of right now i just have yet to see that real effort for PS3 games, port games and that's a real shame. Call me whatever you want but im a consumer and have played many games and have many different systems and this just upsets me alot. Look at the good exclusives for the PS3 they are looking very good, cause they took the time to make it well.

EA has never made a great Playstation game from what i have bought, i agree NHL 06 and NHL08 have been very good to me, but every other game i get from them on a PS system just sucks.

Now with the news that Devs are now starting to make PS3 games first and porting them to other systems i think that's a great sign for all people, including PS3 fans.

It's more a matter of games being originally built for a Windows platform more. PS3 is on a Linux platform. It may be more powerful however the quality and compatibility of the output all depend on which platform the game was originally built and refined on.

As for the lag and freezing on the 360, that was patched a long time ago. There are absolutely no lag or freezing problems with The Orange Box on the 360 anymore.

Those of you who don't wish to try the game out, I really think you ought to change your mind. I mean I wasn't so sure myself why people were going on about how Half Life 2 was the greatest most revolutionary FPS ever made. Play it and trust me, you will believe it.

I don't fully understand the point of showing a video which just proves that the consoles are fairly even, I'd imagine most games are fairly even across both consoles. What I'm interested in are games which look drastically different on both consoles.

They're not even, The 360 version is sharper and lighter, than PS3 version.

That's hardly a drastic difference between the two versions.
If it's true that the PS3 version is no longer suffering from framerate issues, then the two games should be practically identical. Slightly sharper and lighter graphics hardly make the 360 version vastly superior.

But superior nonetheless which will satisfy the minds of your local Xbox fanboys.
