Top 10 Years in Gaming

Of the 30 years that videogames have been running strong, it's always going to be hard to choose a top 10 list. There are always years that are left out even with stellar titles in them, and as much as it pains me to see 2004 and Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 overlooked for their monumental contributions to PC gaming (especially HL2's genius Source engine), I do agree with their number one choice.

Since the Atari 2600 there have been more than three decades of innovation, disaster, and sheer brilliance. Which years stand above the rest?

    I'm definitely gonna have to agree with that list. Especially number 1 and 2.

    Hopefully 2008 can live up to being one of the best years for gaming.

    I completely agree with 2007 being the best. Look at all the things that happened then: announcement of Starcraft II, release of Halo 3, Bioshock, WoW, the Orange Box, Guitar Hero, COD4, Mass Effect, Rock Band.

    1998, 2000 and 2007 are probably my favourite gaming years of all.

    1998 = Banjo-Kazooie
    2000 = Banjo-Tooie
    2007 = Many great games

    Sega will rise again! Dreamcast FTW!

    Honestly though, I'd say it was definitely too early to add '07 to the list, considering '08 looks to have a great line up as well.

    A great list as a whole, and I generally agree with them, the only change being that I would put 1998 at the top since it is a bit too early to be ranking '07 so easily, but even so '07 definitely deserves to be among the top five.

    2008 will easily be on there by the time it's finished. We've galready got Mario Kart Wii, by the end of it we'll have MGS4, GTAIV and SSBB. Those alone would qualify it.
