The town is a pretty darn big place with lots of detail put into it. So getting from one side of it to the other can be a prick. But they did a speed run which ended up taking around the Four minutes and 18 second mark. They have said they reckon people could do better.

The new Liberty City is an awfully big place, filled with diverse architecture, dense traffic and all sorts of unpredictable hazards that could leap out at any time to harm mass-murdering immigrant sociopaths. And after having plenty of time to explore it fully, we decided it was time to see how fast we could make it from one end to the other, while at the same time giving anyone who still hasn't played Grand Theft Auto IV a (very) quick tour of the city.

Starting at Liberty City's westernmost point - a cliff overlooking the ocean in Alderney - we hopped in a SuperGT and jammed it nonstop all the way to the runways of Francis International Airport in Broker. Wall-driving, crash-happy craziness ensued - and you can watch it all, unedited, right here:

As you can see, our best time - from the point where Niko walks away from the cliff to his splash by the airport - is about four minutes, 18 seconds. But we're willing to bet you can do better, so we invite you to shove your awesomeness in our faces by recording your own runs, uploading them to YouTube and posting them to our forum. Good luck - it's dangerous out there.

With all the complaints of the car handling, I don't think many will beat the four minutes and eighteen second mark. Plus, you'd have to get a pretty good sense of where all the streets, buildings and intersections are so you won't be slamming into a building every couple of seconds and going straight through the windshield.

Liberty City feels like it's the real New York!

Free roam games always need to have a HUGE city and I think GTA IV has done it good! =D

OK, so they said "Run" instead of "Drive". I am well aware that "Run" is a perfectly valid way of saying it, but considering you can actually RUN in the game, it is a bit confusing yes?

Pretty good time. I bet actual running (on foot) would take a helluva lot longer....Probably in excess of a half hour >_>

Why drive a car? Moar helic0pt3rz, pl0x! Surely, GTA IV has helicopters, right?

San Andreas did it first. Don't forget that San Andreas is actually bigger than Liberty City of IV.

Yeah, but half the map is full of empty space like deserts and shit.

I hope the next GTA (there WILL be one, yes?) adds some wilderness, rivers, maybe a desert like area.

Basically a GTA IV level of quality on a San Andreas styled map....

    Bring back planes and such...

I wonder how long it will be before someone actually tries to do a speed Run (actual running) through the GTA IV map?

Oh my, imagine how big (as in GB) a GTA IV level of quality of San Andreas would be. GTA IV was 60 GB? SA would probably surpass 100.

GTAIV was never 60GB, to fit on the 360 they had couldn't have made it any bigger than 9GB

the ps3 version must be more GB cause the ps3's is mre than 10GB

not really it would make an advantage to the PS3 version. They both use the same amount of GB space.
