We all know that many Hollywood game-to-movie adaptations suck. But is that true for the rest of the world too?
Well it certainly seems so in Japan.
The most recent example is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (based on the game of the same name) which has recieved some of the worst reviews of any Japanese game-to-movie adaptation.

Though, it may seem like Hollywood has a monopoly on sh*t game movie adaptations, others can make sh*t game adaptations! Take the Japanese film industry, which is churning out what apparently is a crud version of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

The problem, according to the reviewer, is that the movie cannot capitalize on what makes the game so interesting: Cute characters in a love comedy who gradually become violent and bloody.
In live action, that kind of story arc is old hat!
Also, we're pretty p*ssed that the actresses don't have green or purple hair. I mean...hello?!

I bet it's even more difficult with their crazy hair styles to pick out actors that fir the bill. LOL

Even if they bought cheap colored wigs from a 2nd hand shop, at least it would look like they were trying. Or even cheap colored hair-spray. It'd be alot easier to tell which character is which. XD

You know why? Its because they try hard to match the game rather do something that will fit a movie instead. Its the same for Movie to games adaptation. Interesting isn't

I was surprised when I saw Higurashi on Gamegrep, one of my favorite anime serieses. Didn't even know there was a movie, though.

The series is interesting not because of the cute characters, but watching their paranoia slowly drive them to insanity- but maybe I'm just sadistic.

I started to watch this Anime two days ago and I love it. The movie should be good.
The characters are good, they (and the plot, of course) are the things that called my attention, but I don't like seeing the girls dieying on every arc . I hope the movie (live action, if I am not mistaken?) is not as gory as the anime.
