Phantasy Star Portable for PSP: First Trailer

Tyranitar24 | May 14, 2008 | Video | Playstation Portable
The Phantasy Star series has lasted throughout almost the whole video game generation and now Sega is releasing a game for the PSP, along with a trailer. Sega also mentioned in a flyer to retailers that there will be a UMD demo just before the launch of the game. Phantasy Star Portable is set to release in Japan on July 31st.

Note: The original source is in Japanese and the alternate source is in English.
Here’s a cool looking trailer for Phantasy Star Portable, the game is building up nicely for its July 31st Japanese release, we will see if it can make waves like Monster Hunter then. Sega also mentioned in a flyer to retailers that there will be a UMD demo to give away to gamers just before the launch. Let’s hope it will be available for download as well, I’m still on the fence for this.

Isn't Phantasy Star a MMORPG type series?

Will this make use of the PSP's Infrastructure system? If so, will they charge for it? If so, HOW will they? Input credit card details, or via 'monthly' cards?

I believe its ad-hoc only, if my sources are correct.

Oh? Ad-hoc? That makes no damn sense. If these are multiplayer oriented games, why not Infrastructure? It's like Monster Hunter without online, super-*bleep*ing-ridiculous.

      Exactly....

I probably would have said, word for word, "That makes no damned sense" (well, add an 'ed', but that is about it)....

no online playability pretty much defeats the purpose of phantasy star.

Totally. They should at least support Xlink Kai coding.

So it seems it's going the way of Monster Hunter with the 4 players max thing. Ah well, mebbe that can be haxed'. :3
