"Dwelling within the shadows, The Darkness was a sleeper hit upon its release in 2007. During the crowded Halo/Gears of War/Call of Duty shooter era, seeing a new shooter franchise rise to center stage was odd. Even odder was that the game was an adaptation of a comic book, something that doesn’t normally bring about gamer confidence. After telling its almost frightening narrative of Jackie Estacado, The Darkness disappeared, only to be revived once again in the sequel, The Darkness II. Though..."
Mass Effect, released in 2007, proved that games could have a long-lasting and personal impact, one heavily influenced by player choice. Mass Effect 3, the final iteration of BioWare’s sci-fi trilogy, employs the same concepts as the games before it, but takes a dark new direction. It is epic in scale, tragic in story, and often disheartening during play—and I didn’t expect anything less, nor want anything else when the credits rolled.
"Before we touch up on story, characters, graphics and everything else that makes up the core gaming experience, let’s look at the premise of the game itself. Skylanders comes with three action figures, a “portal” that hooks up to any USB port, cards, and stickers. The concept and story go hand-in-hand. The Skylanders, which are mythical creatures that lived in Skylands, were sent to Earth by the evil Portal Master Kaos and his mythical beast the Hydra."
The PlayStation Move has become quite the controller for on-rail arcade shooter ports. The latest is from Sega, who has brought over House of the Dead III to PSN. Is it worth a download?
"Many a gamer can recite a pungent and winding tale of their experience with the Metal Gear franchise. I myself will never, ever, forget the mind freaking I received at the hands of Psycho Mantis nor will I ever really recover from the baking heat of the harrowing microwave corridor."
As a lot of you may know, 'Syndicate' was released on both Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles as of yesterday. With the help of IGN's Peter Eykemans, we're given a fair idea of whether this'll be the game for us to purchase or not. Still undecided about whether to spend all that cash on a game you're not 100% sure will satisfy you? Dig deep into this thorough review and let it decide for you!
The Kore Gang is solid platformer. The game feels very 90s nostalgic. The game looks good and plays great, and best of all its the kind of game anyone can pick up and play. Goozernation wonders why more games can't make motion controls this easy
"Ever fancied being a gangster, living the life of a gun wielding drug dealing maniac? Then chances are you have played a series called Grand Theft Auto. Cast across a variety of cities and places across the world, GTA was a series which always focused on being as free as possible and as a result became very controversial. Talk to somebody who hasn’t played the game but has heard of it and ask them what they think its about and they will probably say ,’isn’t it that game where you can beat a h..."
Saints Row The Third may be the perfect sandbox game from this generation of consoles. There is just so much to do that the average gamer could spend 40+ hrs in the game. Volition and THQ have done a great job. The game is fun, addicting, full of customization, and it doesn't take itself seriously. Hopefully Rockstar takes notes from Saints Row: The Third.
